Program Information

Art in Public Places

Toledo has an impressive collection of public art with large-scale sculptures, murals and functional structures by noted artists from across the country. The Arts Commission acquires, conserves and restores the 50+ piece collection and educates the community about understanding and enjoyment of public art.

Artomatic 419

This month-long multimedia arts extravaganza features a non-juried art show, as well as weekend performances of music, poetry, dance and dramatic arts.

Thursday Art Walk

Artists, galleries and arts enthusiasts join together for the Thursday Art Walk, a great opportunity to browse and purchase affordable local art, while getting to know the artists and galleries of the Arts Zone, the Warehouse District and the surrounding area.

The Gallery Loop

Twice annually, buses take visitors - artists, creatives, potential patrons and the general public - to galleries and studios throughout Downtown Toledo. All mediums are typically represented, with galleries curating their own shows. The Event is free and open to the public, including bus rides.

This one-night showcase highlights Toledo’s excellent local music, great venues and of course our music-loving population. Guests ride the bus between venues or stroll past Arts Commission sponsored street performers.

Young Artists at Work

Each summer, 50 or more at-risk youths participate in a six-week summer employment opportunity that enables them to benefit from intense exposure to the arts. The objective is to provide an intensive arts experience that fosters artistic self-expression and a quality work ethic that can impact the youth throughout adulthood.

Ninth Congressional Art Exhibition

The Arts Commission, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Firelands Association of the Visual Arts and Oberlin College sponsor the 9th District Congressional Art Competition to honor artistic excellence demonstrated by area high school students. Winning artwork is displayed in Washington, D.C. for one year. Private businesses also sponsor award prizes for select students.
